Time Capsules and the Apocalypse

Posted by on Aug 23 2009

I was recently thinking, what can we do now to prepare for apocalypse. Asides from reading survival manuals and storing up goods, why not do something that can benefit humanity – or at least your local community? While it doesn’t have to be as grand as the Svalbard Seed Vault, creating well kept time capsules could be a way of assisting survivors of the apocalypse.

Here is great article post about the top 10 time capsules of all time, read the article for more details about each one:
The Tulsa City always puts a smile on my face – lets hope that future 1957 Plymouth Belvederes are better preserved!

The Ultimate Apocalypse Survival Guide

Posted by on Aug 22 2009

Came across an amazing survival for the Apocalypse here. It draws resouces from SAS Survival Manual, Australian Bushcraft, Australia Traditional Bushcraft and Basic Wilderness Survival Skills.

Here’s a great quote from the Water Procurement section:
Despite what you may have seen in German pornography, it is never a good idea to drink urine. It contains harmful wastes and is about 2 percent salt.

Below Are some of the Chapters:
  • PLANNING YOUR SURVIVAL
  • BASIC SURVIVAL MEDICINE
  • WATER PROCUREMENT
  • FOOD PROCUREMENT
  • SURVIVAL USE OF PLANTS
  • FIRECRAFT
  • ROPES AND KNOTS
  • SHELTERS
  • WEAPONS TOOLS & EQUIPMENT
  • SUSTAINABLE GARDENING
  • DESERT SURVIVAL
  • TROPICAL SURVIVAL
  • COLD WEATHER SURVIVAL
  • SEA SURVIVAL
  • WORLD WAR III SURVIVAL
  • WEATHER PREDICTION
  • EXPEDIENT WATER CROSSINGS
  • EXPEDIENT DIRECTION FINDING
  • STEALTH
I’ve looked through it, its jam packed with good information, as you can tell by the chapters, its fairly thourough for the serious survivalist and doesn’t have any of this yuppie zombie stuff the internets so full. This is the Real Deal!

Google Date Search – Broken?

I clicked on the show options for google search and entered the dates as they showed in the example (click to enlarge):

23/5/2004 format doesn’t work, according to the suggestion, however, if you type “May 23 2004” it works. Go figure!
