Sketch of the Day Theme: makeup

Posted by on Aug 18 2019

The original theme was mascara, but changed a few hours later to Makeup. I had already started with mascara, I found this very cute reference to a Canadian Wildlife Rescue centre looking for discarded mascara wands, as it helps clean feathers of rescued birds

This was done with charcoal.

Sketch of the Day Theme: lab

Posted by on Aug 17 2019

Today was just a short, short 5 minute sketch of a ‘Lab’ (pun intended) experiment gone wrong! This was mildly influenced by the strange by this really dark experiment by a Russian scientist during the cold war. I would imagine attaching a Labrador Retriever’s head to a cat’s body would spell nothing but trouble!

This was made with a ball point pen.

Sketch of the Day Theme: russia

Today’s sketch of the day was influenced by Siberia Shamans who took Amanita muscaria mushrooms. Supposedly some of these shamans collect reindeer urine as it removes the ibotenic acid (toxin) and concentrates the muscimol (psychoactive ingredient) in the mushrooms.

Sketch of the Day Theme: machine

This is loosely based on the Canard Digérateur an automaton in the form of a duck. It can eat grain, digest and excreted the remains! This was done in pen. Incidentally, this has become my most popular sketch on the sketch-a-day, currently with 139 votes.
